My monthly learnings for the month of November 2023

my monthly learnings from November 2023

The month of November was filled with festivities, major highlight being Diwali but also many key learnings in the area of Technical, communication skills and the key lessons I learnt from other areas of my life.

I also have a YT video put up on same topic so if you’re interested in going through a video experience , make sure you watch this video.

Alright let’s jump into my learnings or takeaways from the month of November 2023

DIAGRAM GPT

I have been busy equipping myself with the advancements and trends in GenAI and Github copilot and I have a talk uploaded on the same on my YT channel link here — https://youtu.be/yAySIqwDVNQ?si=xV4UrKkYvqN0TwZw

So in this month as well, I came across Diagram GPT by eraser.io where you can curate your own diagrams be it flowcharts or sequence diagrams based on pre-loaded presets or by using plain language prompts. Isn’t that exciting?

Let me show you the step by step process to generate a sequence diagram by giving a plain language prompt.

Step 1 — Write a prompt in plain language

Step 2- Diagram generation in progress

Step 3- Here’s a full-fledged generated diagram :)

This can be useful for people who have to give demos and presentation often and can get a basic diagram created from the GPT and then put their own customisations on top of it.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried it out already and find it useful.

CAMERA CONFIDENCE

Nowadays we are living in a world where digital appearances are more than physical appearances. You need to talk to the camera, the way you are talking to someone in real, sitting next to you.

DIGITAL >> PHYSICAL

It could be intimidating in the beginning and you might feel under confident. So to improve upon your confidence in front of the camera., the first and foremost way to begin is to imagine that you’re talking to your friend with whom you’re most comfortable with.

Imagine the camera is replaced with your friend’s face! When you sit with that thought in mind, you will slowly try to feel normal.

Try it out for a few days and weeks and slowly and gradually you will become better at it. Do let me know in the comments if this tip helped you.

LESSONS LEARNT FROM WC FINAL LOSS

This month on the 19th, most of us Indians felt hurt and it still hurts. We are cricket lovers at the core and we all had to suffer loss in the ICC WC final match against Australia. But yes it was a journey where we were on the top of the game throughout the knockout games and on the final day we couldn’t make it till the finish line.

What did I learnt from that experience?

Lesson 1 — Accept your defeat with dignity

Rohit Sharma during post match presentation was gracious enough to accept that their opposition did play well in all three aspects of the game and restricted them to a low score. It takes a lot of courage to accept your defeat with dignity on such a huge platform.

Lesson 2— Learn from mistakes and move forward

As the coach of the team , Rahul Dravid didn’t shy away from media during the post match press conference and accepted that the team made a few mistakes in the match and it wasn’t their day during the game. I totally second this point that is quite imperative to learn from mistakes and move forward with your head held high rather than sink yourself in the melancholy of the defeat.

Final thoughts

I like to document my learnings for every month so that I have something to look back every month to review my progress. I would urge all my readers to document your learnings in whichever way suitable for you. If you like to journal in a diary, add notes in your mobile or create a short video, do it. The form is not mandatory but the lessons are.

Do share your learnings from the month of November here in the comments and I will meet you next month with the lessons from December . Until then keep guessing the title of my December learnings post. Hint is there in the YT video. ;)
